The second edition of the International Champions Cup comes to an end with Sporting Lisbon winning the title

His Excellency the Ambassador of the Keeper of the Two Holy Mosques in the Kingdom of Spain, Azzam bin Abdul Karim Al-Qain, crowned the Sporting Lisbon in the International Champions Cup after winning the title. Dinamo Zagreb team obtained second place in the tournament organized by the Saudi Scholarship Program for the Development of Football Talents of the Ministry of Sports in the Spanish city of Salou, in the presence of the director of the program, Mr. Hisham Tashkandi.

The tournament featured the participation of two teams from the scholarship program, the clubs Al-Qadisiyah, Al-Fateh and Al-Taawun from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to the clubs of Real Madrid, Liverpool, Valencia, Atlético de Madrid, Sporting Lisbon, Dinamo Zagreb, Olympique Marseille, Real Sociedad, Shakhtar Donetsk, Legia Warsaw, Slavia Prague and Midtjylland.

The International Champions Cup is part of the objectives of the program, which seek to develop Saudi talent through competition against the most prestigious European teams in order to get them to sign professional contracts in the best foreign leagues.

For his part, Hisham Tashkandi, director of the program, expressed his gratitude and consideration to the Minister of Sports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal for his guidance and ongoing support to the program.

He also thanked Ambassador Azzam bin Abdul Karim Al-Qain for sponsoring the final match and his constant interest in the program by contributing to all the matters related to the embassy from the early beginnings of the program until today.
