Newcastle United’s team managed to overcome Future Falcons Team Green 2-0 in Group C of Al Abtal Cup.
The match involved a physical struggle, with neither team being able to tip the balance in its favour in a first half that ended goalless. At the beginning of the second half, midfielder Munda took the SSDFT Team Green’s defence by surprise and hit a ball sneaking in inside the penalty area, which finally was sent into Faris Aljohani’s goal.
After the first goal, the English team continued to push forward to score a second goal, while Future Falcons Team Green were trying to attack and protect its lines to reduce the pressure from Newcastle’s players with the offside. Harrison tried to score in the 77th minute with a powerful shot from just outside the penalty area, but goalkeeper Faris Aljohani was brilliant and saved it. In the end, during the additional time, striker Mavididi cut in from the left flank, breaking the SSDFT Team Green’s defence and scored England’s second goal, so the game ended 0-2.
