Villarreal beat Future Falcons 2-1 in Al Abtal Cup

Villarreal was able to get the better of the Future Falcons by two goals to one in Group C of Al Abtal Cup.

The match began with the Spanish club looking the slightly more dangerous of the two teams, and in the 41st minute, their advantage on the field was reflected on the scoresheet after a goal from Alberto, who made the most of a mix up in the Future Falcons’ defense and rifled home from inside the penalty area, scoring his team’s first goal. Thamer Almousa stepped up to take it, only for goalkeeper Juan to successfully save it, meaning the first half drew to a close with a one goal lead to the Spanish team.

At the beginning of the second half, Future Falcons pushed up and put on the pressure, striving for the equalizer. Something they were able to do in the 66th minute through Hamed Alkhorayef, who received the ball inside the penalty area and shot forcefully, leaving goalkeeper Juan no chance and hitting the back of the Yellow Submarines’ net.

Both teams then kicked on looking for the second, with the Saudi team’s pressure continuing even after they had scored the equalizer combined with dangerous Villarreal counterattacks up the other end. In the 80th minute, the Spanish team got a direct free kick, which Sergio skillfully floated into the goal, scoring his second of the match against the Future Falcons. The Saudi team tried to get themselves back in the game again, but their attempts came to no avail, and the match ended with two goals to one in favor of Villarreal.
