The Saudi Scholarship for Developing Football Talent program of the Ministry of Sports announces that players Mohammed Alqahtani and Meshari Almashhari have signed professional contracts with Olympiacos for one season and a half, following the tryouts carried out at the Greek club’s facilities in recent weeks.
The scholarship program aims to export Saudi talents to European leagues with the objective of training them alongside the best players, in the most prestigious clubs, which will have a positive impact on the Saudi National Teams in the future.
These are the fifth and sixth professional experiences for the players of the program after Feras Al Ghamdi joined the Spanish club Nastic, Aseel Alharbi signed with the Portuguese club Portimonense, Osama Mubairik went to the Polish club Legia Warsaw, and Aseel Abed landed in the Spanish club Melilla.
In his remarks, the director of the scholarship program, Hisham Tashkandy, confirmed that they will try to continue exporting players through meticulous preparation at the program’s headquarters in the Spanish city of Salou. There, the players undergo daily training, psychological preparation, and language lessons, which will help them adapt with ease to European clubs and help them find better career opportunities, to the greater benefit of Saudi football.
He added: “I thank the administrations of Al Nassr and Abha clubs for their cooperation regarding the signing of Alqahtani and Almashhari’s contracts with the Greek club Olympiacos, and for expediting the procedures, in line with the vision and objectives of the program.”
