Saudi Arabia’s Future Falcons were held to a goalless draw by Bosnia’s FK Željezničar in Group A of the Al Abtal Cup.
The Future Falcons started the game on the front foot and were able to put pressure on FK Željezničar’s defence, almost opening the scoring with a header from Hamed Alkhorayef, but Alibazic made a fine save to keep the ball out. Both teams were unable to find the back of the net and the first half ended goalless.
The second half started in a similar fashion, with the Saudi side pressing hard and trying to find a way through. However, a lack of composure and errors at the crucial time on the part of the Falcons, as well as the Bosnian goalkeeper’s outstanding performance, prevented them from finding the back of the net.
The game was a real battle for control of the heart of midfield, with the Future Falcons often getting the better of it and attacking as much as they could, but their attempts were not enough to change the outcome of the game, which ended in a goalless draw.
With this draw, the Future Falcons moved up to two points in Group A, while Željezničar earned their first point of the group.
