The Future Falcons suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against hosts Inter Milan in Group D of Al Abtal Cup.
The Future Falcons began the match brightly, pressing high in Inter’s half, but as the minutes passed, the Italian side started to impose themselves and put pressure on their opponent’s area and test goalkeeper Khalid Aldossry. In spite of this, much of the play remained concentrated in centre of the pitch throughout the half. Neither team managed to take full control of the game or trouble the scorers, and the first half ended in a goalless draw.
The second half began evenly, but Inter’s attacks grew more and more threatening as the minutes passed. The Falcons’ defence and goalkeeper continued to stand firm, including a notable save in the 48th minute when substitute Salviato struck powerfully from close range, only for Aldossry to deny a certain goal with an outstanding save.
In the 53rd minute, the Italian team broke the deadlock. A well-timed cross from the advancing right-back Bettelli found Morosi, who headed the ball firmly into the net. Following the goal, Inter continued to press, while the Saudi team launched counterattacks in search of an equaliser. Despite their efforts, the Falcons could not find the back of the net, and the match ended with Inter claiming a 1-0 victory.
