The Future Falcons lost to visiting Benfica 1-0 in Al Abtal Cup.
The first half saw both teams get off to an even start, until the 23rd minute when Benfica broke the deadlock with a goal from the defender Antonio Mendes who was up field for a corner kick. The Future Falcons went out looking for an equaliser through well structured attacks and efforts to keep possession, but the Portuguese team’s solid defence prevented them from scoring, and the first half ended with a 1-0 lead for Benfica.
Both teams continued pushing on looking for a goal in the second half, especially the Future Falcons, who were on the hunt for an equaliser. There was a fierce battle in the midfield, but neither team was able to find the back of the net. The match ended with Benfica’s 1-0 victory, which strengthened their position in the third group of Al Abtal Cup.
