Future Falcons draw with Bayer Leverkusen in goalless Al Abtal Cup clash

The Future Falcons drew 0-0 with hosts Bayer Leverkusen in Group A of the fifth edition of Al Abtal Cup.

Bayer Leverkusen started the match employing the high pressing as the Saudi team tried to play out from the back, but the Falcons gradually found ways to brake their opponent’s pressure as the minutes passed, creating chances of their own to threaten goalkeeper Elias Berger’s goal, though their attacks lacked any real threat. Meanwhile, the German team launched several attacks, including a shot from Ivan Maske, which was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Alwaleed Alsubhi. Neither team succeeded in finding the net, and the first half ended goalless.

The second half began on more equal terms, with neither side managing to dominate the ball. Karam Aleissa attempted to open the scoring with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, but Berger blocked it. In the 78th minute, Bayer Leverkusen were awarded a penalty, taken by Elia Datini, but his strike missed the target.
In injury time, Karam Aleissa had a clear chance after a pass from the right side, but his shot went agonisingly wide of the post, meaning the match ended in a goalless draw.
