The SSDFT Team Green drew 0-0 against Slavia Praha in the Eastern European group of the Al Ablal International Cup, in a match that displayed a high level of play.
The match began with a demonstration of Slavia Praha’s attacking ability, coming close to the goal defended by Alghamdi’s on more than one occasion, but the Saudi team was able to relieve the pressure and turn the match into a battle for the control of the midfield. The rest of the first half continued without any more clear-cut chances for either team.
At the start of the second half, Slavia Praha almost opened the score after a cross from the left flank was met by Erik Biegon, left alone inside the box, but his shot was not strong enough and was easily saved by Alghamdi. Alrashidi responded with a shot that went just wide of Dvořák’s goal after a great play by the Team Green. At the 81st minute, the Czech team almost scored the winning goal after a dangerous shot from Daniel Simiga, but it went over the crossbar. The final minutes saw no change in the score, and the match ended in a goalless draw, which is of no use to either team in the Eastern European group.
